Friends of Colchester Music

The first four months of the Friends of Colchester Music community fund raising drive have raised $1520. Colchester area businesses that donated are featured on our website home page and in our program inserts. The Colchester-Milton Rotary Club generously gave nearly half of our campaign funds to date. The campaign is far short of our $10,000 goal for instrument replacement and repair as well as needed funds for student scholarship.

Members of the Colchester-Milton Rotary Club were on hand at the Colchester High School Holiday Band and Choral concert on December 11th. Prior to the concert Mrs. Leora Black and two other Rotarians, presented Friends Of Colchester Music Chairwoman, Lynn Appleget a check for $750.00. The funds will provide support for Colchester’s student music boosters organization.

Friends Of Colchester Music supports Colchester’s music students by helping students obtain instruments, providing funding for festivals fees and large instrument purchases and repairs.

Oct 10th FCM held it's first Coin Drop at CHS and raised over $200! This event enabled the seed money for the establishment of a not-for-profit music student "store" at CHS where students can obtain needed instrument supplies right at the school at little or no cost.

At the close of the 2005 school year MBS instrumental music teacher Andrew Rousseau and parent volunteer Lynn Appleget realized the need for a music booster organization. Their objective was to unite parents and community members in supporting the student musicians of Colchester. Their focus, was to bring together those who felt that supporting strong music education programs was as critical to the schools as supporting academic and sports curriculums.
